Asian markets lower this morning after Japan released economic data showing that retail sales fell 0.8% yoy (versus an expected fall of 0.1%). Elsewhere a Bank of Korea index of manufacturers’ confidence for September was at 75, the second lowest reading for the past 3 years. Jiangxi Copper, China’s largest producer of the metal fell over 2% after reporting disappointing earnings.
